Original Part
1. LM431AIZ Substitution Conclusion
The LM431AIZ can serve as a direct replacement for the TL431CZ in the vast majority of applications, as their key parameters are highly aligned. Both are adjustable shunt voltage references with identical output voltage range (2.5V/2.495V to 36V), output current capability (100mA), package (TO-92-3), and required minimum cathode operating current (1mA).
The primary differences lie in the initial voltage accuracy (LM431AIZ ±2% vs. TL431CZ ±2.21%) and temperature coefficient. The LM431AIZ specifies a typical temperature drift of 50ppm/°C, while the TL431CZ does not clearly define this in its basic parameters. Consequently, the LM431AIZ may offer slightly better voltage accuracy and temperature stability compared to the original part, making it more suitable for applications with tighter reference voltage consistency or wider operating temperature requirements. However, these differences generally do not affect basic functionality in typical applications.
If no special precision requirement exists, direct substitution is acceptable. It is recommended to validate performance in the actual circuit after replacement to ensure stability meets expectations.
