1. LM248DT Substitution Conclusion The LM248DT is not suitable as a direct replacement for the LF347MX. Although the packages are compatible, their core performance specifications differ significantly. The LM248DT is a standard bipolar-input amplifier with an input bias current of 30 nA, which is 600 times higher than the 50 pA of the JFET-input LF347MX. This makes it entirely unsuitable for critical applications requiring extremely low input current, such as high-impedance sensor interfaces or integrators. Furthermore, its gain-bandwidth product (1.3 MHz) and slew rate (0.5 V/µs) are far inferior to those of the LF347MX (4 MHz, 13 V/µs), resulting in severely inadequate dynamic performance for circuits demanding wide bandwidth or fast signal transitions. Additionally, its specified supply voltage of 44V single-supply / ±22V dual-supply does not directly match the broader 7-36V range of the original part.
2. TL074CDG4 Substitution Conclusion The TL074CDG4 is an excellent direct replacement for the LF347MX. Both are JFET-input quad operational amplifiers with highly aligned core characteristics. They feature comparably low input bias currents (65 pA vs. 50 pA) and similar slew rates (13 V/µs), ensuring fully matched performance in applications like high-impedance interfaces, low-current sensing, and audio pre-amplifiers. The TL074CDG4 offers a slightly better gain-bandwidth product (5.25 MHz) and a significantly lower quiescent current (1.4 mA), which helps reduce overall system power consumption. While its supply voltage range (10-30V) is somewhat narrower than the LF347MX's 7-36V range, it adequately covers the vast majority of general-purpose circuit requirements. Both devices are offered in a 14-SOIC package, enabling a pin-for-pin drop-in replacement.
