1. ISL83078EIUZA-T Substitution Conclusion Direct substitution is not feasible. Two critical and incompatible technical differences exist between this part and the original. First, its supply voltage range is 3.0V to 3.6V, compared to the original's 4.5V to 5.5V. It cannot operate in the original 5V system; forcing a replacement would result in device malfunction or damage. Second, it operates in half-duplex mode, whereas the original is full-duplex. This necessitates a hardware change from two separate differential pairs (TX and RX) to a single bidirectional differential pair, along with the addition of a direction control signal. Consequently, both the PCB and communication protocol must be redesigned. Although the data rate is identical at 20Mbps, these fundamental discrepancies preclude its use as a pin-compatible drop-in replacement.
2. ISL83082EIUZ-T Substitution Conclusion Direct substitution is not viable. While this part's supply voltage range (4.5V~5.5V) is fully compatible with the original, its core performance metric—data rate—is only 115Kbps. This is drastically lower than the original's 20Mbps (a difference of approximately 200x), rendering it completely incapable of meeting the original design's requirement for high-speed communication. Substitution would lead to severely insufficient system communication bandwidth or outright failure. Furthermore, similar to the ISL83078EIUZA-T, it employs half-duplex operation, requiring the same changes to hardware connections and communication control logic. Unless the application operates at very low speeds and can accommodate circuit modifications, this part is not a feasible substitute.
