1. LM2904AQS-13 Substitution Conclusion
The LM2904AQS-13 can functionally replace the LM2904DRE4 in core applications, as both are dual general-purpose operational amplifiers with pin-to-pin compatibility and closely matched key parameters such as gain bandwidth product, slew rate, and output current. Three notable differences exist. First, the LM2904AQS-13 offers a wider supply voltage range (2V to 36V) compared to the original part (3V to 26V), providing greater adaptability in lower single-supply or higher voltage systems. Second, its quiescent current (700µA per channel) is approximately 40% higher than that of the original device (500µA per channel). This increase in system power consumption makes direct substitution less favorable for battery-powered or other low-power applications. Third, and most significantly, the LM2904AQS-13 is AEC-Q100 automotive-grade qualified. Its design, manufacturing, and testing standards far exceed those of standard commercial-grade components, making it better suited for automotive electronics or high-reliability industrial environments where enhanced reliability, extended temperature range (-40°C to +125°C), and long-term stability are critical.
For general-purpose applications that are not extremely power-sensitive, particularly those requiring a wide supply voltage range or high reliability, the LM2904AQS-13 is a qualified and advantageous substitute. However, in battery-powered designs with strict quiescent current limitations, the impact of increased power consumption must be carefully evaluated before direct replacement.
