1. LM2904TH-13 Substitution Conclusion
The LM2904TH-13 can functionally replace the original LM2904PW, as both are general-purpose dual op-amps sharing identical key parameters: package (8-TSSOP), bandwidth (700 kHz), slew rate (0.3 V/µs), and output drive capability (40 mA). Two technical differences require evaluation: First, the LM2904TH-13 offers an increased maximum supply voltage from 26 V to 36 V, providing better voltage margin and suitability in higher-voltage applications such as 24 V industrial systems—a clear advantage. Second, its quiescent current rises from 500 µA per channel to 700 µA (an increase of approximately 40% total). Under identical supply conditions, this substitution would lead to a noticeable increase in overall system power consumption. For battery-powered or strictly power-constrained applications, this could be an unacceptable drawback. Feasibility of substitution is therefore conditional: It is suitable in applications with higher supply voltages (especially near or above 26 V) where increased power consumption is not critical, and it provides a wider operating voltage range. However, direct replacement in low-power designs requires caution and may necessitate reevaluation of power supply and thermal design.
