1. MC34072ADR2G Substitution Conclusion Direct substitution is not recommended. While this device offers superior slew rate, bandwidth, output drive capability, and operating voltage range (especially on the low-voltage end) compared to the original part, its core input stage architecture is fundamentally different. As a standard bipolar-input op-amp, its input bias current (100 nA) is four orders of magnitude higher than that of the original JFET-type part (6 pA). This will lead to unacceptable error currents and voltage offsets in applications involving high-impedance signal sources or precision integrators. Furthermore, its quiescent current (1.9mA per channel) is significantly higher. The MC34072ADR2G is only suitable for general-purpose applications where input current is not a primary concern and greater emphasis is placed on drive capability and wide-voltage operation. It cannot directly replace the AD8682 in precision circuits requiring high input impedance and low input current.
2. OPA2131UA/2K5G4 Substitution Conclusion Recommended as a high-performance substitute. This device shares the same JFET-input architecture as the original part, with key performance parameters being highly compatible or even superior. Its input bias current (5 pA) and offset voltage (200 µV) are lower than or equal to those of the original part, perfectly preserving the core advantages of high input impedance and low input current. Additionally, it shows slight improvements in slew rate, bandwidth, and output drive capability. The supply voltage ranges of the two parts are identical. The OPA2131UA/2K5G4 aligns almost perfectly with the original part in terms of electrical characteristics and application positioning, with improved key precision metrics. It is an ideal direct replacement, particularly suitable for circuits with stringent input requirements such as precision amplification, active filtering, and data acquisition.
