1. OP07DRZ-REEL7 Substitution Conclusion
Substitution is feasible, but key parameter differences must be considered. The OP07DRZ-REEL7 offers superior core precision specifications compared to the original part. Its input bias current (200 pA vs. 1.8 nA) is an order of magnitude lower, and its input offset voltage (45 µV vs. 60 µV) is smaller, which translates to lower input error and higher signal accuracy in DC precision amplification applications. However, its slew rate (0.2 V/µs vs. 0.3 V/µs) is slightly lower, resulting in a marginally slower response to large-signal transients. Additionally, its minimum operating voltage (8 V vs. 6 V) is higher, limiting its use in very low single-supply or narrow supply voltage range applications. If the application circuit operates above 8V and does not demand high dynamic performance, this part serves as a direct, performance-enhanced replacement.
2. AD8421ARZ-R7 Substitution Conclusion
Direct substitution is not possible, as these are two fundamentally different types of amplifiers. The AD8421ARZ-R7 is an instrumentation amplifier (in-amp). It is a dedicated integrated circuit that internally integrates a three-op-amp topology, featuring differential inputs and high common-mode rejection ratio (CMRR), with gain typically set by external resistors. In contrast, the original OP07 is a general-purpose voltage-feedback operational amplifier. Their pinouts and circuit topologies are completely incompatible. While the AD8421 significantly outperforms the OP07 in dynamic performance (slew rate of 35 V/µs, bandwidth of 10 MHz) and output drive capability (65 mA), enabling it to handle higher frequency signals and drive heavier loads, the fundamental architectural difference precludes it from functioning as a direct drop-in replacement for the OP07 on an existing printed circuit board (PCB). A complete redesign of the peripheral circuitry would be required.
