1. AD8515ARTZ-R2 Substitution Conclusion The AD8515ARTZ-R2 is not recommended as a direct replacement for the OPA349. Although both are single-channel, general-purpose operational amplifiers with rail-to-rail output and similar supply voltage ranges (~1.8V to 5.5V), there is a critical performance trade-off. The AD8515ARTZ-R2 offers significantly higher bandwidth (5 MHz vs. 70 kHz) and slew rate (2.7 V/µs vs. 0.02 V/µs), making it far superior for dynamic signal processing. However, its quiescent current consumption (410 µA) is 410 times greater than that of the OPA349 (1 µA). If the original design is battery-powered or an ultra-low-power application highly sensitive to current draw, this substitution would cause a dramatic increase in system standby and operating current, severely reducing battery life. Therefore, it may only be suitable in applications where speed is required and power consumption is not a concern.
