1. ISL83082EIUZ-T Substitution Conclusion From the perspective of core functionality and hardware compatibility, the ISL83082EIUZ-T meets the basic requirements for substituting the SN65HVD3082EDGKR. Both are 5V-powered, half-duplex, single-transmitter/single-receiver RS-422/485 transceivers with pin-compatible packages, allowing for direct physical replacement. Two critical technical differences must be carefully evaluated: First, the data rate of the ISL83082EIUZ-T (115 kbps) is significantly lower than that of the original device (200 kbps). If the existing system operates above 115 kbps, substitution will result in communication failure or degraded stability. Second, its receiver hysteresis (20 mV) is lower than that of the original part (30 mV). This means the substitute offers less noise margin and reduced tolerance to signal jitter under the same noise conditions, potentially increasing the bit error risk in electrically harsh environments. Feasibility of substitution strictly depends on the application scenario: replacement is acceptable only if the actual communication rate is ≤115 kbps and the operating environment has low noise. Otherwise, substitution is not recommended.
