1. TL072ACDT Substitution Conclusion The TL072ACDT can serve as a direct substitute in specific applications but is not a universal replacement. The core difference lies in its J-FET input stage, which yields an input bias current (20 pA) four orders of magnitude lower than the original BJT-input part (100 nA) and provides extremely high input impedance. This significantly reduces error currents in applications with high source impedance, such as sensor interfaces. However, the trade-off is a higher typical input offset voltage (3 mV vs. 1 mV for the original), which may impact DC accuracy. Furthermore, its minimum operating voltage (6 V) is higher than the original's (4 V), precluding its use in single-supply 5V or lower-voltage systems. Lower quiescent current and AEC-Q100 automotive qualification are additional advantages. This device is suitable for applications sensitive to input current, operating at ≥6V, and with relaxed offset voltage requirements. It is not viable for low-voltage systems ≤5V.
2. ADTL082ARZ-REEL7 Substitution Conclusion The ADTL082ARZ-REEL7 is a superior alternative in terms of performance parameters, but its supply voltage compatibility is the primary substitution constraint. As a J-FET input op-amp, it offers very low input bias current (2 pA) and good input offset voltage (1.5 mV), maintaining high input impedance while providing better DC accuracy than the TL072 and closer to the original part. Its slew rate (20 V/µs) and gain-bandwidth product (5 MHz) are both higher than the original, delivering superior dynamic performance. The key limitation is its minimum operating voltage of 8V, which completely excludes the low-voltage 4V application space supported by the original. For systems with a supply voltage ≥8V, it is a high-performance upgrade, particularly in applications demanding high input impedance and high speed. However, it is entirely unsuitable for any design requiring operation from a 4-7V single supply or dual supplies below ±2V.
