1. LM2904WHYDT Substitution Conclusion
Direct functional and pin-compatible substitution is not feasible, primarily due to a fundamental difference in input stage architecture. The LM2904WHYDT is a standard bipolar-input op-amp, whose input bias current (20 nA) is nearly three orders of magnitude higher than that of the original J-FET type TL062 (30 pA). In any application involving high source impedance signals or sensitivity to DC errors—such as high-impedance sensor interfaces or integrator circuits—this will generate significantly larger offset errors, potentially rendering the circuit inoperative. Furthermore, its slew rate (0.6 V/µs) is substantially lower than the TL062's (3.5 V/µs), severely degrading its ability to handle rapidly changing signals and introducing distortion in large-signal, high-frequency responses. Although it offers stronger output drive capability, a lower minimum supply voltage, and automotive-grade qualification, these advantages cannot compensate for the critical shortcomings in the aforementioned parameters. Consequently, it can only serve as an emergency replacement in very limited scenarios involving DC amplification where input current and speed are entirely non-critical. It does not constitute an equivalent or upgraded substitute.
2. LM158WDT Substitution Conclusion
Its substitution feasibility is identical to that of the LM2904WHYDT, and the conclusion is not feasible. This is because the LM158WDT shares identical core parameters (20 nA input bias current, 0.6 V/µs slew rate) and package with the LM2904WHYDT. The key technical discrepancies are therefore exactly the same: excessively high input bias current and low slew rate. This similarly leads to severe performance degradation or even functional failure in typical TL062 application contexts, such as high-impedance buffers, photodiode amplifiers, or precision sample-and-hold circuits designed around the low-current characteristics of J-FET inputs. The LM158WDT likewise cannot replace the TL062, except in circuits with extremely relaxed requirements for input current and signal speed, and only as a temporary, pin-compatible functional solution—not a performance-equivalent substitute.
