From a functional and hardware perspective, the TPS2021DR can serve as a pin-to-pin replacement for the TPS2021IDRQ1. The two devices are identical in switch type, key electrical parameters (such as voltage, current, and Rds(on)), protection features (current limit, thermal shutdown, UVLO), and the critical input logic type (both are inverting). The primary difference is that the TPS2021DR lacks the Automotive-grade AEC-Q100 qualification of the original part. The TPS2021DR is suitable for general-purpose applications in consumer and industrial fields. However, if used directly in automotive electronic systems requiring AEC-Q100 certification, it would fail to meet the automotive reliability standards, posing a compliance risk.
2. TPS2031DR Substitution Conclusion
The TPS2031DR is compatible with the original part in terms of package, basic electrical parameters, and protection features. However, there is one critical functional discrepancy: its input logic is non-inverting, whereas the original part uses inverting logic. The same control signal will result in an opposite ON/OFF state of the switch. Direct substitution without adjusting the control logic will cause the circuit to malfunction. Furthermore, similar to the TPS2021DR, it does not possess Automotive-grade AEC-Q100 certification. This substitute should only be considered for applications where the input logic polarity is not critical or where the control circuit can be redesigned, and where automotive qualification is not required.
