1. SA3SR-10 Substitution Conclusion
Direct substitution is not feasible. The SA3SR-10 is identical to the original SA6-10 part in terms of attenuation value, impedance, power rating, and connector interface type. However, its critical limitation is a specified operating frequency range of only 0-3 GHz, compared to the original part's 0-6 GHz range. Within the 3 GHz to 6 GHz band, the core performance parameters of the SA3SR-10—including attenuation accuracy, impedance matching, and power handling capability—cannot be guaranteed. This may result in additional, uncontrolled insertion loss or signal reflection, potentially degrading system performance or causing failure across that frequency band. Consequently, it cannot meet the original design requirement for full-band coverage and is not a viable substitute.
2. SA18SS-10 Substitution Conclusion
Electrically compatible for substitution, but mechanical interface compatibility requires careful attention. The SA18SS-10 matches the SA6-10 in key electrical specifications such as attenuation value, impedance, and power rating. Its operational frequency range is extended to 0-18 GHz, fully covering and exceeding the original part's 0-6 GHz requirement. Within the target band, its high-frequency performance (e.g., attenuation flatness, VSWR) is typically superior or at least compliant. The primary difference lies in its connector interface: the SA18SS-10 uses an SSMA interface (1.6mm thread), whereas the original part uses SMA (1.3mm thread). Although SSMA and SMA connectors are visually similar and can be physically mated, this constitutes a mismatched connection. Forcibly mating them may damage the connector threads and poses risks to long-term reliability (e.g., connection stability after repeated mating cycles) and electrical performance (potential introduction of minor discontinuities). Substitution is possible if system space and connector compatibility allow, or if the use of an adapter (which introduces additional insertion loss and length) is acceptable. If the design mandates a direct, native SMA-to-SMA connection, then substitution is not viable.
