Original Part
Alternative Part
1. SA6-12 Substitution Conclusion
Substitution is not fully viable. The primary limitation lies in its operational frequency range (0–6 GHz), which is only one-third of the original SA18H-12 part (0–18 GHz). The SA6-12 can only guarantee its nominal 12 dB attenuation and good impedance matching (50 Ω) up to 6 GHz. Once the operating frequency exceeds 6 GHz, key performance parameters such as attenuation accuracy and VSWR will degrade significantly, failing to meet the original design requirements in the high-frequency band (6–18 GHz). The SA6-12 may be considered a cost-reduction alternative only if the application is strictly confined to signal frequencies below 6 GHz. Otherwise, due to insufficient bandwidth, it is not a suitable substitute.
2. LCAT1000-12 Substitution Conclusion
Substitution is not fully feasible. The core limitation is the same as with the SA6-12: its operational frequency range (0–6 GHz) is considerably narrower than that of the original part (0–18 GHz). Although its nominal attenuation (12 dB), power rating (2 W), and connector type (SMA In-Line Module) match the original part, the restricted frequency range prevents it from operating properly in the 6–18 GHz high-frequency band. Furthermore, as a product from a different manufacturer (L-com), its precise performance characteristics across the full frequency range—particularly at band edges—such as attenuation flatness and VSWR, may differ from those of the Fairview Microwave original part in unspecified ways. This part is only suitable for low-frequency applications below 6 GHz. For systems covering or involving the high-frequency band (6–18 GHz), it cannot serve as a replacement due to its inadequate bandwidth.
