1. LCAT1000-20 Substitution Conclusion
Direct substitution is not feasible. The discrepancy lies in its operational frequency range, which is limited to 0–6 GHz, significantly lower than the original part's 26 GHz. In any application above 6 GHz—such as C, X, Ku, or K bands, including certain 5G millimeter‑wave frequencies—this attenuator cannot guarantee the specified 20‑dB attenuation accuracy. Its VSWR and insertion loss performance will degrade substantially, potentially leading to signal distortion, excessive reflection, and failure to meet the original high‑frequency design requirements.
2. FMAT7620-20 Substitution Conclusion
Derated substitution is permissible under specific conditions. The key difference is its upper frequency limit of 18 GHz, compared to 26 GHz for the original part. Within the 0–18 GHz range—covering S, C, X, and Ku bands, as well as most 5G Sub‑6GHz and some millimeter‑wave applications—it can deliver comparable attenuation, power handling, and matching performance to the original. However, for applications between 18–26 GHz (e.g., portions of the K band), performance cannot be assured. Therefore, prior to substitution, it is essential to verify that the system’s maximum operating frequency does not exceed 18 GHz.
