1. SA18SS-06 Substitution Conclusion
As a direct upgrade, the SA18SS-06 maintains identical core electrical parameters (attenuation, power handling, impedance) to the original part. Its key improvement is the extension of the operational frequency upper limit from 12 GHz to 18 GHz. Within the original design requirement of 12 GHz, the SA18SS-06 is not only fully compatible but also provides additional frequency performance margin, ensuring signal integrity. Although its connectors are specified as SSMA—a higher-frequency variant mechanically compatible with SMA but with tighter tolerances—interfacing with standard SMA connectors in practical applications typically poses no issues. Therefore, from a performance standpoint, it is an ideal and recommended substitute.
2. FMAT1012 Substitution Conclusion
The FMAT1012 matches the original part in static parameters such as attenuation value, power rating, and impedance. However, its critical flaw is an operational frequency range limited to 0–6 GHz, which is significantly lower than the original part's 12 GHz upper limit. Within the 6 GHz to 12 GHz band, the actual attenuation of this unit will deviate substantially from its nominal 6dB value. This deviation will introduce unpredictable insertion loss and impedance mismatch, potentially degrading system performance or causing failure. Substitution with the FMAT1012 should only be considered if the entire application system is strictly confirmed to operate below 6 GHz. Otherwise, the substitution is not viable and carries unacceptably high risk.
