The key difference lies in the frequency range: the SA6-10 operates from 0-6 GHz, which is superior to the original part's 0-3 GHz range. The SA6-10 maintains its nominal attenuation accuracy and good impedance matching up to 6 GHz, whereas the original part's performance may begin to degrade beyond 3 GHz. When used within the original design frequency (≤3GHz), the SA6-10 not only provides equivalent functionality but also offers a higher frequency performance margin. This represents an upward-compatible, drop-in replacement.
2. FMAT7466-10 Substitution Conclusion
The FMAT7466-10 is also technically capable of replacing the SA3R-10, with an even greater performance reserve. Its basic specifications (10dB, 50Ω, 2W, SMA) are also identical to the original part. The most significant technical enhancement is its extended frequency range of 0-12 GHz. This indicates the use of circuit design, materials, and processes better suited for high-frequency operation, ensuring flatter attenuation characteristics and lower VSWR across a wider bandwidth. For applications originally operating below 3 GHz, using the FMAT7466-10 will provide excellent performance headroom. However, its cost is likely higher. Therefore, while substitution is feasible, it is necessary to evaluate whether the additional cost for unused frequency performance is justified.
