1. LM258DRG4 Substitution Conclusion
Direct substitution is not recommended. The LM258DRG4 exhibits significant gaps in key audio performance parameters compared to the original MUSES8820E: its gain bandwidth product (700kHz vs. 11MHz) and slew rate (0.3V/µs vs. 5V/µs) are substantially lower, leading to insufficient high-frequency response and poor dynamic tracking when processing audio signals, which can result in high-frequency attenuation and transient distortion. Additionally, its input offset voltage (3mV vs. 300µV) is an order of magnitude higher, introducing greater DC offset error and compromising signal accuracy. While it offers a lower supply voltage limit and better power efficiency, its core performance metrics cannot meet the original design’s audio fidelity requirements. It is only suitable for non-audio general-purpose amplification scenarios where bandwidth and speed are not critical.
2. TLE2082ACDG4 Substitution Conclusion
Substitution is feasible in most audio applications, but careful attention to detail matching is required. The TLE2082ACDG4 surpasses the original part in key dynamic performance: its gain bandwidth product (10MHz vs. 11MHz) is comparable, while its slew rate (40V/µs vs. 5V/µs) is significantly higher, providing superior high-frequency response and transient handling capability, which better supports high-slew-rate audio signals. Its JFET input stage delivers extremely low input bias current (20pA vs. 100nA), benefiting high-impedance input designs. However, two differences should be noted: first, its input offset voltage (700µV vs. 300µV) is approximately 2.3 times higher, which may slightly affect circuits requiring ultra-high DC precision, such as precision filters; second, its supply voltage lower limit (4.5V vs. 7V) is lower, offering broader adaptability. Overall, its performance is sufficient to cover or even enhance the original audio amplification circuit. It is recommended to verify through measurement that the DC offset remains within the system tolerance after substitution.
