1. HCPL-4503360 Substitution Conclusion
Direct substitution is not recommended. Although its current transfer ratio (19–50% @ 16mA) is superior to that of the original part (15% Min), and its turn-on time is comparable, there are two critical limitations: First, its isolation voltage rating of 3750 Vrms is significantly lower than the original’s 5000 Vrms, posing safety and reliability risks in applications requiring high isolation. Second, its 8-DIP package is incompatible with the original 8-SMD footprint, preventing direct placement and necessitating PCB layout modifications. Substitution may only be considered if the isolation voltage requirement is below 3750 Vrms and a package redesign is acceptable.
2. HCPL-J454300 Substitution Conclusion
Substitution is not advised. While the package (8-SMD) is compatible with the original and the current transfer ratio range (19–60% @ 16mA) is improved, two significant performance degradations exist: First, the isolation voltage (3750 Vrms) is 25% lower than the original (5000 Vrms), compromising critical safety isolation. Second, the switching speed is markedly slower—typical turn-on/turn-off times (500 ns / 800 ns) are substantially slower than the original (220 ns / 350 ns), which will degrade performance in signal transmission delay and high-speed switching applications. This substitute should not be used unless both isolation voltage and switching speed are non-critical.
