1. HCPL-4503-360E Substitution Conclusion
Direct substitution is not recommended. The key differences lie in the isolation voltage (3750 Vrms vs. 5000 Vrms) and the maximum output withstand voltage (20 V vs. 35 V). The lower isolation voltage reduces the electrical safety margin and may be insufficient for applications requiring high isolation. The reduced output voltage rating limits its use in high-voltage signal or load-side circuits; if the original circuit operates above 20 V, device breakdown could occur. Although its higher minimum current transfer ratio (CTR) (19% vs. 15%) can improve signal transmission efficiency, the degradation in critical safety and voltage ratings prevents it from fully covering the operating conditions of the original part.
2. HCPL-4503-300 Substitution Conclusion
The same conclusion as for the HCPL-4503-360E applies: direct substitution is not advised. The two devices share identical technical parameters, and therefore exhibit the same shortcomings—lower isolation voltage (3750 Vrms) and lower output withstand voltage (20 V) compared to the original part. In circuits demanding high insulation strength or higher output-side voltages, this part may risk insulation failure or output-stage damage. While it offers a better CTR range and is package-compatible, the insufficient voltage withstand and isolation capabilities make it an unsafe replacement for the original component.
