1. TSV992AIYST Substitution Conclusion
Direct substitution is not recommended. The TSV992AIYST is a high-performance general-purpose operational amplifier with a fundamentally different design objective compared to the original MCP6442. The former prioritizes high bandwidth (20 MHz vs. 9 kHz) and high slew rate (10 V/µs vs. 0.003 V/µs), enabling it to handle high-frequency signals and fast transients. However, this comes at a significant cost: a dramatic increase in quiescent current (820 µA vs. 450 nA), resulting in power consumption nearly 2000 times higher. This completely sacrifices the original part's core advantage of "nanoamp-level" ultra-low power operation. Furthermore, its operating voltage range (2.5V to 5.5V) is narrower than the original's (1.4V to 6V), specifically lacking support for low-voltage systems such as 1.8V. Substitution is not feasible unless the application is entirely insensitive to power consumption and the voltage supply matches the new part's requirements.
2. TSV358AIST Substitution Conclusion
Substitution can be considered under specific conditions, but requires careful evaluation. The TSV358AIST offers performance intermediate between the two. Its bandwidth (1.4 MHz) and slew rate (0.6 V/µs) far exceed those of the original MCP6442, meeting higher frequency demands. However, its quiescent current (500 µA), while significantly lower than the TSV992's, is still approximately 1000 times higher than the MCP6442's. This is completely unacceptable for battery-powered or perpetually standby applications where critical low-power operation is paramount. Its voltage range (2.5V to 6V) similarly fails to cover the MCP6442's low starting point of 1.4V. If the application is power-insensitive, the system voltage is above 2.5V, and enhanced output drive capability (80 mA vs. 22 mA) or automotive-grade reliability (AEC-Q100) is required, the TSV358AIST represents a performance upgrade. Nevertheless, for designs strictly adhering to the original "ultra-low power" intent, it is not a viable substitute.
