1. SA6-12 Substitution Conclusion
As a derivative part under the same brand (Fairview Microwave), the SA6-12 is identical to the original FMAT7620-12 in terms of attenuation value, power handling, impedance, and connector interface. The core difference lies in its frequency range, which is reduced from 0–18 GHz to 0–6 GHz. The SA6-12 can only operate reliably at frequencies up to 6 GHz. For applications originally designed for operation above 6 GHz (such as in C-, X-, or Ku-band), this part will be completely unsuitable due to severe performance degradation (inaccurate attenuation and degraded VSWR). Conversely, if the system’s maximum operating frequency is definitively below 6 GHz, the SA6-12 represents a qualified, drop-in replacement with matching parameters.
2. LCAT1000-12 Substitution Conclusion
The LCAT1000-12 from a different brand (L-com) matches the original part in key nominal parameters (12 dB attenuation, 2 W power rating, 50 Ω impedance, SMA male connectors). However, it shares the same frequency range limitation (0–6 GHz) as the SA6-12. This difference determines its substitution feasibility entirely based on the application frequency band: in circuits operating below 6 GHz, it can serve as a functionally and electrically compatible substitute. Once operation extends into the 6–18 GHz high-frequency range, substitution will fail, as stable and accurate attenuation characteristics along with good impedance matching cannot be guaranteed in that band, potentially leading to degraded system performance.
