1. AD711KRZ-REEL7 Substitution Conclusion The AD711KRZ-REEL7 cannot serve as a direct drop-in replacement for the OPA132U/2K5. Significant differences exist in their core architecture and key performance parameters, necessitating rigorous evaluation within the specific application circuit before any substitution can be considered. The primary distinctions are as follows: First, the amplifier types differ fundamentally. The OPA132 is a general-purpose voltage-feedback operational amplifier, whereas the AD711 is a JFET-input op-amp. This core difference dictates their foundational characteristics. Second, the supply voltage ranges are incompatible. The AD711 requires a minimum operating voltage of 9V, which is higher than the OPA132's minimum of 5V. Consequently, the AD711 is non-functional in systems powered by a single 5V rail or ±2.5V supplies. Third, power consumption and drive capability diverge. The AD711 features a lower quiescent current (2.5mA), which is advantageous for low-power designs. However, its output current (25mA) is less than that of the OPA132 (40mA), resulting in weaker drive capability for heavy loads. Fourth, there are subtle differences in input characteristics. The AD711 offers a slightly better input offset voltage (200µV), but its input bias current (15pA) is three times higher than the OPA132's (5pA). In applications extremely sensitive to input current, such as photodetection or high-impedance sensor front-ends, this can lead to significantly larger errors. Substitution may only be considered if the system supply voltage meets the requirement (≥±4.5V or a single supply ≥9V), and the application is not critical regarding input bias current or output drive strength. Even under these conditions, a full re-validation of circuit performance is mandatory.
