1. LM2904DT Substitution Conclusion Direct substitution is not viable. As a general-purpose bipolar operational amplifier, the LM2904DT exhibits significant performance gaps compared to the JFET-input OPA2137U/2K5. Key differences include: an input bias current approximately 4000 times higher (20nA vs. 5pA). In circuits with high-impedance signal sources or those demanding extremely low input current, such as precision integrators or sample-and-hold stages, this will introduce non-negligible errors. Its slew rate is limited to 0.6V/µs (vs. 3.5V/µs), severely restricting its ability to respond to fast transient signals and causing a drastic reduction in large-signal bandwidth. Furthermore, it has higher quiescent current (700µA vs. 220µA). The LM2904DT is only suitable for general-purpose signal conditioning where input impedance, speed, and power consumption are not critical. It cannot adequately replace the OPA2137 in precision or high-speed circuit designs.
2. LM358DT Substitution Conclusion Cautious substitution may be possible in non-critical applications, but it is not recommended for precision circuits. The LM358DT shares core parameters similar to the LM2904DT. Its input bias current is also as high as 20nA, preventing it from matching the high-input-impedance characteristic of JFET op-amps. This leads to significant performance degradation in applications like photodetection or high-impedance sensor interfaces. Its slew rate is similarly limited to 0.6V/µs, constraining dynamic performance. Its relative advantages are a slightly higher gain-bandwidth product (1.1MHz) and its automotive-grade (AEC-Q100) qualification, making it suitable for general industrial or automotive environments with reliability requirements. It can only be considered a downgrade substitute in general-purpose amplification or buffering circuits where input error and signal speed are not sensitive, and where cost and reliability are prioritized. However, a thorough re-evaluation of system accuracy and bandwidth compliance is mandatory.
