While it shares the same dual-channel, rail-to-rail output op-amp architecture and package compatibility with the original device, there are significant differences in key parameters: its input bias current (250 nA) is five orders of magnitude higher than that of the original (5 pA), which would introduce substantial error with high-impedance signal sources; its slew rate (6 V/µs) is only one-tenth of the original, severely limiting high-speed signal processing capability; and its output current (30 mA) is only 38% of the original, resulting in insufficient drive strength. These discrepancies restrict the LT1498 to applications with very low demands for precision, speed, and load driving, making it unsuitable for the high-performance scenarios for which the original part was designed.
