1. LMV721M5X/NOPB Substitution Conclusion
Direct substitution is acceptable. The LMV721M5X/NOPB is the "green" (lead-free/RoHS compliant) version of the original LMV721M5 part with a formal procurement suffix, both manufactured by the same vendor (TI). Their core electrical parameters—including bandwidth, slew rate, input offset voltage, input bias current, quiescent current, output current capability, and supply voltage range—as well as their package (SOT23-5) are identical. Therefore, they are fully equivalent in function, performance, and application. No circuit performance re-evaluation is required for replacement, making it a standard drop-in upgrade.
2. MCP6291T-E/OT Substitution Conclusion
Substitution requires careful evaluation and is not unconditionally recommended. Although both are rail-to-rail output operational amplifiers in SOT23-5 packages with similar gain bandwidth product (10 MHz) and quiescent current, several critical differences exist. First, the input offset voltage of the MCP6291 (3 mV) is significantly higher than that of the LMV721M5 (80 µV). In applications demanding high DC precision, such as sensor signal conditioning or precision measurement, this could lead to unacceptable output error. Second, the MCP6291 features an extremely low input bias current (1 pA) compared to the LMV721M5's 260 nA. While this is an advantage for the MCP6291 in high-impedance source applications, it may result in different behavior in circuits requiring a certain input current, such as some integrator configurations. Finally, the output drive capability of the MCP6291 (25 mA) is only half that of the LMV721M5 (52.6 mA), which may lead to inadequate performance when driving heavy capacitive or resistive loads. Substitution should only be considered in circuits where input offset voltage is not critical, the load is light, and the ultra-low input bias current of the MCP6291 provides a clear benefit.
