1. UA741CD Substitution Conclusion
The UA741CD is fundamentally unsuitable as a direct replacement for the TL061ID, primarily due to differences in input stage architecture. The UA741CD is a standard bipolar-input operational amplifier with an input bias current as high as 80 nA, whereas the TL061ID, being a JFET-input op-amp, features an input bias current of only 30 pA—a difference exceeding three orders of magnitude. In applications highly sensitive to input current, such as high-impedance signal sources, integrators, or precision current sensing, the UA741CD would introduce significant offset errors and could even cause circuit malfunction. Additionally, the UA741CD’s quiescent current (1.7 mA) is substantially higher than that of the TL061ID (200 µA), making it unsuitable for low-power designs. Although both devices share a similar supply voltage range, the mismatch in these critical parameters renders direct substitution highly risky.
2. MC33171DR2G Substitution Conclusion
The MC33171DR2G can serve as a replacement for the TL061ID under certain conditions, but key differences must be carefully evaluated. Compared to the TL061ID, its main advantages include a wider supply voltage range (3 V to 44 V), slightly higher bandwidth (1.8 MHz), and higher slew rate (2.1 V/µs), while maintaining a similar quiescent current (220 µA vs. 200 µA). However, it remains a bipolar-input op-amp, with an input bias current of 20 nA. Although this is lower than that of the UA741CD, it is still nearly three orders of magnitude higher than the JFET-based TL061ID. In applications requiring very high input impedance, substitution may degrade DC accuracy or increase noise. If the circuit is not sensitive to input bias current—for instance, in low-frequency AC-coupled or output current drive applications—and the wider supply range is desirable, substitution may be acceptable. Otherwise, input error performance must be re-evaluated.
