1. LM124J/PB Substitution Conclusion
Direct substitution is not recommended. While the package and channel count are identical, and the gain bandwidth is higher with some supply voltage overlap, there are significant differences in key performance parameters that would lead to severe performance degradation in precision applications originally designed for the target part. The primary deviations are as follows: The LM124J/PB features an input bias current (45 nA) approximately 60 times higher, and an input offset voltage (2 mV) roughly 50 times greater than the target part's specifications (750 pA and 40 µV, respectively). The input impedance of the LM124J/PB is substantially lower, causing it to draw significantly more current from high-impedance sources (e.g., sensors) and generate much larger DC errors. This severely compromises system accuracy, completely negating the core advantage of the target part as a "micropower precision operational amplifier." It is only suitable for general-purpose applications with very low requirements for input error.
2. 7704302CA Substitution Conclusion
Direct substitution is not recommended; however, replacement could be evaluated for non-precision applications emphasizing drive capability. This part shares a similar issue with the LM124J/PB, as its input bias current (50 nA) and offset voltage (2 mV) are also far inferior to the target part's specifications, making it unsuitable for any precision signal processing. Its slew rate (0.5V/µs) and gain bandwidth (1.2 MHz) are superior to the target part. Furthermore, it features a defined push-pull output stage with higher output current capability (30 mA). It may perform better in non-precision general-purpose amplification or buffering scenarios requiring capacitive load drive or faster signal slewing. However, the fundamental trade-off of accepting input errors increased by several orders of magnitude must be acknowledged first, and the supply voltage requirement (maximum 32V) must be confirmed.
