1. MC4558CDT Substitution Conclusion Direct substitution is not recommended. The MC4558CDT is a general-purpose standard operational amplifier, and its key differences from the AD712TRZ-EP include: input bias current (50nA vs. 25pA), which is three orders of magnitude higher; significantly larger input offset voltage (1mV vs. 300µV); and lower slew rate (2.2V/µs vs. 20V/µs). In applications involving high-impedance signals, precision DC amplification, or fast transient response, the MC4558CDT may introduce substantial errors, limit bandwidth, and degrade dynamic performance. It is particularly unsuitable for circuits such as sample-and-hold or photodetection that rely on the low input current characteristics of JFET input stages.
2. MC34072DR2G Substitution Conclusion Conditional substitution is possible, subject to system requirements evaluation. Although the MC34072DR2G still falls short of the JFET-level precision of the AD712TRZ-EP in terms of input bias current (100nA) and offset voltage (1mV), its slew rate (13V/µs) is closer, output current capability (30mA) is higher, and supply voltage range (3–44V) is wider. It may be suitable in AC-coupled circuits where moderate-to-high speed signals, wide supply voltage operation, or drive capability are prioritized over precision DC performance. However, the difference in input stage architecture will degrade DC accuracy and low-noise performance, making it unsuitable for high-sensitivity applications such as microcurrent sensing.
