1. LM86CIMM/NOPB Substitution Conclusion Direct substitution is not recommended. While its digital interface (SMBus), supply voltage (3.3V), and package (8-TSSOP) are compatible with the original part, there are two critical technical discrepancies. First, its local and remote temperature measurement ranges are limited to 0°C to 85°C, which is significantly narrower than the EMC1072's -40°C to 125°C (local) and its wider remote range. The device will fail to operate or measure correctly in low- or high-temperature environments. Second, its specified accuracy (±3°C) is inferior to the original part's (±1°C), leading to a degradation in the absolute temperature measurement accuracy of the system. Substitution may only be considered if the application's ambient temperature is strictly confined to 0–85°C and the temperature measurement accuracy requirement is relaxed; otherwise, it is not viable.
2. LM90CIMM/NOPB Substitution Conclusion Direct substitution is not recommended. Similar to the LM86, it is compatible with the original part in terms of interface, supply, and package, but it shares the same severe limitations. Its temperature measurement range (0°C to 85°C) cannot meet the wide-temperature requirements of the original part. Furthermore, its accuracy (±4°C) is the poorest among the three candidates. This means that in applications requiring precise temperature monitoring or operation over a wide temperature range, substitution would result in significant performance degradation or even functional failure. This part is only suitable for highly constrained scenarios with minimal demands for accuracy and temperature range. In most cases, it cannot serve as a qualified substitute for the EMC1072.
