2. ISL8485ECBZ Substitution Conclusion
Substitution is conditionally feasible, requiring a rigorous assessment of system compatibility. Compared to the original part, the ISL8485 has a lower maximum data rate (10Mbps vs. 20Mbps). If the original design does not utilize speeds above 10Mbps, this difference may be acceptable. However, its primary limitation is its operating voltage range of 4.5V to 5.5V, identical to the ADM483, meaning it cannot support a 3.3V system. This is a key point that must be verified prior to substitution. Furthermore, its receiver hysteresis (70mV) is also lower than the original part's, making it more susceptible to interference under similar noise conditions. This part can only be considered as a downgrade alternative if the original system is confirmed to be 5V-powered and its actual communication rate does not exceed 10Mbps. It is strongly advised to conduct in-situ testing for communication reliability and noise immunity.
