Direct substitution is not recommended due to critical performance degradation. The LP358DR has a gain bandwidth product of only 100kHz (compared to 700kHz for the Original Part), a slew rate of only 0.05V/µs (the Original Part does not specify this parameter, but the typical LM358 is in the range of 0.3–0.5V/µs), and an output current of only 10mA (compared to 40mA for the Original Part). This device is significantly weaker than the Original Part in terms of bandwidth, dynamic response speed, and load drive capability. It is only suitable for applications that are highly sensitive to power consumption (quiescent current is only 54µA) but have very low requirements for frequency response and output capability. Recommended as a high‑performance alternative, as its key parameters match and some specifications are superior. Its gain bandwidth product (700kHz) and output current (40mA) are identical to those of the Original Part, while its slew rate (0.3V/µs) exceeds the typical LM358 level, and its input bias current (15nA) is better than that of the Original Part (45nA). Note, however, that its maximum supply voltage is 30V (compared to 32V for the Original Part). If the system operates close to 32V, margin assessment is required. Overall, this part is compatible with or superior to the Original Part in terms of dynamic response, precision, and drive capability, making it suitable for most of the original application scenarios.
