1. AD8048ARZ Substitution Conclusion The AD8048ARZ offers superior slew rate (1000 V/µs) and lower quiescent current (5.9 mA) compared to the OPA656U. However, it exhibits a lower –3 dB bandwidth (260 MHz) and significantly degraded input bias current (1 µA) and input offset voltage (1 mV), which are approximately 500 times and 4 times worse than those of the OPA656U, respectively. This device is only suitable for intermediate-frequency signal processing applications where high slew rate is required but input precision is not critical. If the original design relies on the OPA656U’s low input error or wider bandwidth (500 MHz), direct substitution may lead to reduced accuracy or insufficient high-frequency response.
2. AD9631ARZ-REEL Substitution Conclusion The AD9631ARZ-REEL provides the highest slew rate (1300 V/µs) and a relatively high –3 dB bandwidth (320 MHz). Nevertheless, its input bias current (2 µA) and input offset voltage (3 mV) are orders of magnitude worse than those of the OPA656U, and its quiescent current (17 mA) is higher. This part is appropriate for speed-critical applications where input error sensitivity is low. If the original system utilizes the OPA656U’s low input error characteristics (2 pA, 250 µV) or moderate-to-low power design (14 mA), substitution will introduce noticeable DC errors and increase power consumption, potentially degrading system accuracy and power efficiency.
