1. AD8656ARMZ-REEL Substitution Conclusion Direct substitution is not viable and can only be considered under specific conditions. The AD8656 significantly outperforms the original part in key specifications—bandwidth (28 MHz vs. 90 kHz), slew rate (11 V/µs vs. 0.05 V/µs), and output drive capability (220 mA vs. 22 mA). However, its quiescent current (3.7 mA per channel vs. 4.4 µA per channel) is nearly a thousand times higher, which would drastically shorten battery life in battery-powered or low-power designs. Furthermore, its minimum operating voltage is 2.7 V (compared to 1.8 V for the original). This renders it unusable in any original system operating within the 1.8 V to 2.7 V range. This device is only suitable for applications insensitive to power consumption and minimum supply voltage, yet requiring high speed and high output drive. It cannot serve as a universal drop-in replacement.
