1. AD8229HRZ Substitution Conclusion
The AD8229HRZ cannot directly substitute the OP07CD, as these are fundamentally different types of amplifiers. The OP07CD is a general-purpose operational amplifier, whereas the AD8229HRZ is an instrumentation amplifier. An instrumentation amplifier integrates multiple op-amps internally, featuring a fixed differential input architecture, very high input common-mode rejection ratio (CMRR), and gain set by a single resistor. It is typically used to directly amplify small differential signals, such as sensor outputs. If a direct replacement is attempted, the circuit would require a complete redesign—for example, removing the original op-amp feedback network, routing signals to the differential inputs, and adding a gain-setting resistor. Moreover, its higher input bias current (70nA vs. 1.8nA) and input offset voltage (100µV vs. 60µV) could be detrimental in high-precision DC applications, though its higher bandwidth and slew rate would benefit dynamic performance. Direct substitution is not feasible and should only be considered if the system architecture is changed from a general-purpose op-amp to an instrumentation amplifier.
2. AD8421ARZ-R7 Substitution Conclusion
The AD8421ARZ-R7 likewise cannot directly replace the OP07CD, primarily because they are fundamentally different amplifier types: it is an instrumentation amplifier, while the OP07CD is a general-purpose operational amplifier. The AD8421 offers comparable or even superior DC parameters to the OP07CD in key areas such as input bias current (1nA) and offset voltage (60µV), and its supply range is compatible. However, its inherent instrumentation amplifier architecture is designed to process differential input signals with gain set by an external resistor. This differs entirely from the OP07CD’s usage as a general-purpose op-amp, which can be flexibly configured with external resistor networks into various circuits such as amplifiers, filters, and comparators. Direct substitution would render the original circuit non-functional. Direct replacement is not viable unless the circuit design objective shifts from general-purpose signal processing to specialized precision amplification of differential signals.
