1. AD8012ARZ Substitution Conclusion
The AD8012ARZ is not a suitable direct replacement for the THS3202D. Although both are dual-channel current-feedback amplifiers with compatible packages, there is an order-of-magnitude difference in their core high-frequency performance specifications. The AD8012ARZ's -3dB bandwidth (350 MHz) and slew rate (2250 V/µs) are significantly lower than those of the THS3202D (2 GHz, 9000 V/µs). When processing very high-frequency signals or fast transients, the AD8012ARZ would introduce severe signal distortion or sluggish response, failing to meet the original design's stringent requirements for speed and bandwidth. Its advantages lie in its extremely low quiescent current (1.7 mA vs. 14 mA) and wider minimum operating voltage (3 V). These benefits are only relevant in power-sensitive applications where signal frequencies are well below 100 MHz, and they do not compensate for its critical shortcoming in high-speed performance.
2. LT1396CS8TRPBF Substitution Conclusion
The LT1396CS8TRPBF is also unsuitable as a replacement for the THS3202D. It exhibits fundamental deficiencies in key dynamic performance parameters: its -3dB bandwidth (400 MHz) and slew rate (800 V/µs) are vastly inferior to those of the THS3202D (2 GHz, 9000 V/µs). This indicates it completely lacks the capability to handle gigahertz-level bandwidth signals or extremely fast pulses. Forcing a substitution would result in severe degradation of system bandwidth and transient response. Furthermore, its output drive current (80 mA) is lower than that of the original part (120 mA), which may impose limitations when driving low-impedance loads. While its power consumption (4.6 mA) is lower than the THS3202D's, this advantage is rendered meaningless in light of the enormous performance gap. It is only suitable for general-purpose, mid-to-high frequency (megahertz-level) applications, not the ultra-high-speed domain targeted by the THS3202D.
