1. TL084ID Substitution Conclusion The TL084ID exhibits comparable signal bandwidth and slew rate to the original part. However, its core differences lie in the input stage architecture and supply voltage range. As a J-FET input op-amp, its input bias current (30 pA) is significantly lower than the original's (100 nA), which can substantially reduce input current error in applications like high-impedance sensor signal acquisition. Conversely, its supply range (±5V to ±15V, i.e., 10-30V) is considerably narrower than the original's (3-44V). Notably, it cannot support 3V low-voltage single-supply operation. Furthermore, its output drive current (10 mA) is only one-third of the original's, indicating insufficient capability to drive heavy loads. The TL084ID is only suitable for applications with a moderate supply range, no requirement for strong output drive, and extreme sensitivity to input current. It is not a direct substitute for wide-voltage or low-voltage applications.
2. LF347BD Substitution Conclusion The LF347BD is also a J-FET input op-amp, offering the advantage of low input bias current (50 pA). Its output current (31 mA) matches the original part exactly, providing adequate drive capability. However, critical differences exist in its supply range and power consumption. While its supply range (7-36V) is wider than the TL084's, it still cannot cover the original part's low-voltage starting point of 3V. The most prominent issue is its quiescent current, which is as high as 8mA (total for four channels)—approximately 4.5 times that of the original part (~7.6mA total). This will lead to significantly increased chip heating and severely reduced battery life in portable applications. The LF347BD is suitable for non-power-sensitive scenarios requiring higher supply voltages, good thermal conditions, low input current, and strong output drive. It is not a direct substitute for low-voltage or low-power designs.
