1. LM258D Substitution Conclusion
The LM258D can serve as a replacement for the LM2904QS-13 in general-purpose amplification applications, but with two critical limitations. The key differences are its slightly narrower supply voltage range (3-32V) compared to the original part (2-36V), making it unsuitable for designs requiring very low (<3V) or very high (>32V) supply rails. More importantly, the LM258D lacks AEC-Q100 automotive qualification and is therefore strictly prohibited for use in applications requiring automotive-grade reliability. Otherwise, it offers comparable or superior performance with a higher gain-bandwidth product (1.1 MHz) and lower quiescent current (500 µA per channel). For non-automotive, general industrial, or consumer applications with a suitable supply voltage, it is a cost-effective and pin-compatible direct substitute.
2. TL062ID Substitution Conclusion
The TL062ID is not a direct substitute for the LM2904QS-13. It is a device optimized for different application scenarios and should only be considered for replacement if the circuit design is modified around its specific characteristics. The core difference lies in its J-FET input technology, which provides a significant advantage of input bias current (30 pA) that is three orders of magnitude lower than the BJT input of the original part (20 nA). This makes it particularly suitable for amplifying signals from high-impedance sources, such as sensors. Additionally, its slew rate (3.5 V/µs) is an order of magnitude higher, beneficial for handling faster signals. However, its supply range (10-30V) is narrower, its output drive capability (20 mA) is only half, and its minimum operating voltage requirement (10V) is significantly higher. These limitations preclude a direct drop-in replacement without modifications to the power supply design and load conditions.
