1. LMV358QPWR Substitution Conclusion
The LMV358QPWR can serve as a direct drop-in replacement for the AD8542ARUZ in terms of basic functionality and package (8-TSSOP). However, due to critical performance incompatibilities, direct substitution is generally not recommended. The primary differences are:
1) Input Bias Current: The LMV358QPWR's input bias current is as high as 15nA, compared to the AD8542's 4pA. In circuits with megaohm-level source impedance (e.g., high-impedance sensor interfaces, photodiode transimpedance amplifiers), this will generate significant DC offset errors, rendering it unsuitable for precision or high-impedance applications.
2) Quiescent Current: Its quiescent current is 210µA per channel versus the AD8542's 45µA per channel. In power-sensitive applications like battery-powered systems, this will substantially reduce standby time.
Substitution may only be considered in generic applications where input current and power consumption are not critical, and only basic amplification is required.
2. LMV358IDGKRG4 Substitution Conclusion
The LMV358IDGKRG4 is electrically identical to the LMV358QPWR. Consequently, it shares the same significant disadvantages regarding high input bias current and quiescent current, making it equally unsuitable for high-impedance, low-power precision applications.
Furthermore, its package is a narrower 8-VSSOP (3.00mm body width), which is not footprint-compatible with the original 8-TSSOP (4.40mm body width). A direct "pin-to-pad" replacement on the existing PCB layout is impossible; a board redesign is mandatory.
This part has even lower feasibility for substitution. It should only be considered for new designs where its performance limitations are acceptable.
