The TSV358AIDT is unsuitable as a direct replacement for the AD8542ARZ-REEL, primarily due to its input bias current (70 nA), which is more than four orders of magnitude higher than the original device’s 4 pA. In circuits involving high-impedance signal sources—such as photodiodes or piezoelectric sensors—or where extremely high input impedance is required, the TSV358AIDT will introduce significantly larger input error currents, severely degrading measurement accuracy and circuit linearity. Although it offers a wider supply range (2.5 V to 6 V), stronger output drive capability (80 mA), and automotive-grade (AEC-Q100) qualification—advantages in specific applications like automotive environments or driving heavy loads—its core input-stage characteristics fundamentally conflict with the original part’s positioning (low power, high input impedance). Therefore, it is only recommended for non‑precision applications where input error is not critical, and its wide‑supply and high‑drive capabilities are prioritized.
2. LMV358ID Substitution Conclusion
The LMV358ID can serve as a functional replacement for the AD8542ARZ-REEL in most general-purpose applications, but its performance is not fully equivalent or superior—trade-offs must be considered. Both devices share identical supply ranges (2.7 V to 5.5 V) and gain‑bandwidth product (1 MHz), while the LMV358ID offers a slightly higher slew rate (1 V/µs) and stronger output current (40 mA). However, the LMV358ID’s input bias current (15 nA) remains nearly four orders of magnitude higher than the original’s 4 pA, which will similarly degrade precision in high‑impedance applications. Additionally, its input offset voltage (1.7 mV) is slightly worse. Substitution is feasible, particularly in circuits that require higher output drive capability and where the signal source impedance is low. For designs demanding ultra‑low input current and extremely high input impedance, however, this replacement is not recommended.
