1. LT1058ISWPBF Substitution Conclusion
Direct substitution of LT1058ISWPBF with OP470GSZ-REEL is generally not recommended and should only be considered under specific conditions. Although both devices are quad operational amplifiers from Analog Devices in SOIC-16 packages, their core architectures (J-FET input vs. standard bipolar) lead to fundamental differences in key parameters. The primary considerations are:
1) Supply Compatibility: The LT1058's minimum operating voltage (20V) is significantly higher than the OP470's (9V). In systems originally designed for lower supply rails such as ±5V or a single +15V supply, the LT1058 will not function.
2) Input Characteristics: Leveraging its J-FET input stage, the LT1058 features an extremely low input bias current (10pA), which is approximately 1/1500th of the OP470's (15nA). This is a major advantage for high-impedance signal sources but also makes the LT1058 more sensitive to input overload conditions.
3) Power Consumption & Speed: The LT1058's total quiescent current (~6.8mA) is notably lower than the OP470's (9mA), and it offers a higher slew rate (13V/µs), providing advantages in low-power operation and transient response. However, its gain-bandwidth product (5MHz) is slightly lower than the OP470's (6MHz), resulting in marginally inferior high-frequency, small-signal gain performance.
Any substitution attempt must be predicated on a strict match of the system supply voltage. Furthermore, a thorough re-evaluation of input protection circuitry, noise performance, and frequency response is mandatory to ensure all application requirements are met.
