1. NCP432BVSNT1G Substitution Conclusion
Based on a comparison of key technical parameters, the NCP432BVSNT1G can be used as a substitute for the TL431QDBZR, provided that the difference in operating current is taken into account, as it may affect certain circuit performance characteristics. Both devices are adjustable shunt voltage references with compatible packages (SOT-23-3) and essentially identical output voltage ranges (2.5V/2.495V to 36V). The primary differences are as follows: First, the NCP432BVSNT1G offers significantly better accuracy (±0.5%) compared to the TL431QDBZR (±2.2%), providing a more precise reference voltage. Second, the typical operating cathode current of the NCP432BVSNT1G is 40µA, which is substantially lower than the 1mA of the TL431QDBZR. While this may reduce overall circuit power consumption after substitution, it also imposes stricter requirements on bias circuit stability. Third, the NCP432BVSNT1G specifies a temperature coefficient of 50ppm/°C, whereas the TL431QDBZR does not provide this specification, giving the former superior stability over a wide temperature range.
Substitution is feasible if the circuit design can accommodate the lower operating current requirement and demands higher accuracy and temperature stability. However, if the original circuit relies on the TL431QDBZR’s higher operating current to drive the load, the load compatibility must be re-evaluated.
