1. LM358DT Substitution Conclusion
Direct substitution is not recommended. The LM358DT is significantly inferior to the LT1211CS8 in all key performance metrics. Notably, its gain-bandwidth product (1.1 MHz vs. 14 MHz) and slew rate (0.6 V/µs vs. 7 V/µs) are over an order of magnitude lower, severely limiting its ability to process high-frequency or fast-transient signals. This deficiency can lead to output waveform distortion or sluggish response. Furthermore, its input offset voltage (2 mV vs. 150 µV) is more than ten times higher, introducing significantly greater DC error and making it unsuitable for high-precision amplification scenarios. Although it offers lower power consumption and possesses automotive-grade certification (AEC-Q100), these advantages cannot compensate for the substantial gap in core performance. It is only appropriate for applications with extremely low demands for bandwidth, speed, and precision.
2. TS512AIDT Substitution Conclusion
Substitution is conditionally acceptable but entails a performance downgrade. While the core parameters of the TS512AIDT are superior to those of the LM358DT, they still fall short of the LT1211CS8 across the board. Its gain-bandwidth product (3 MHz vs. 14 MHz) and slew rate (1.5 V/µs vs. 7 V/µs) are only about one-fifth to one-quarter of the original part's, which will limit its application with higher frequency or rapidly changing signals. Its input offset voltage (500 µV vs. 150 µV) is also over three times higher, having a minor impact on precision. Its advantages lie in lower quiescent current and automotive-grade certification. Substitution can be considered if the application has relaxed requirements for bandwidth, speed, and precision (e.g., mid-to-low frequency signal conditioning, general control loops) and prioritizes low power consumption and reliability. Otherwise, an operational amplifier with higher performance should still be selected.
