Attention must be paid to its increased power consumption and different package footprint. The AD8691 significantly outperforms the MCP601 in bandwidth (10 MHz vs. 2.8 MHz), slew rate (5V/µs vs. 2.3V/µs), output drive capability (80 mA vs. 22 mA), and input bias current (0.2 pA vs. 1 pA). It is superior for processing higher-frequency signals, fast transients, driving heavier loads, and interfacing with high-impedance sensors. However, its quiescent current (950µA) is over four times that of the MCP601 (230µA), a significant penalty in battery-powered or ultra-low-power applications. Furthermore, its maximum operating voltage (5.5V) is slightly lower than the MCP601's 6V. The device comes in the smaller SC-70-5 package, so PCB layout compatibility must be verified.
