1. LM1458MX Substitution Conclusion
Direct substitution is not recommended. The LM1458MX exhibits significant deviations from the original RT2904WHYDT in key electrical parameters. First, its supply range does not support the original part's wide-range, low-voltage applications. The LM1458MX is rated for ±18V/36V and cannot operate down to 3V, whereas the RT2904 operates from 3V to 30V. This may cause failure to start or degraded performance in single-supply or low-voltage systems. Second, its quiescent current (2.3 mA) is nearly double that of the original (1.2 mA), directly increasing system power dissipation and making it unsuitable for power-sensitive designs. Finally, its slew rate (0.5 V/µs) and input bias current (80 nA) are also inferior to the original part, potentially affecting dynamic response and DC precision. Although the packages are compatible, these core differences preclude its use as a functional equivalent in applications demanding low voltage, low power, or high performance.
2. AP358SG-13 Substitution Conclusion
Evaluation for substitution requires extreme caution and is likely not viable. While the AP358SG-13's supply range (3-32V), quiescent current (1 mA), and gain bandwidth product (1 MHz) are highly similar to the original RT2904WHYDT, its most fundamental distinction lies in the output type: it is explicitly specified as a "differential output" device. Its internal architecture is closer to that of a comparator or a dedicated differential line driver, not a standard linear operational amplifier. A standard general-purpose op-amp like the RT2904 features a single-ended, push-pull output and can operate stably in the linear region under closed-loop feedback. In contrast, employing a differential output structure in a typical feedback amplifier circuit may lead to abnormal operation, instability, or a complete failure to achieve the intended amplification function. This fundamental architectural difference disqualifies it as a direct replacement for a general-purpose op-amp, unless the application circuit is specifically designed for a differential output device.
