1. LM358ST Substitution Conclusion Direct substitution is not recommended. While the LM358ST and the original part, the BA4560RFVM-TR, are both dual general-purpose operational amplifiers with overlapping supply voltage ranges, there is a significant performance gap between them. A direct replacement would result in severe system performance degradation. The primary differences are: 1) Gain Bandwidth Product (GBWP) and Slew Rate: The LM358ST's GBWP (800 kHz) and slew rate (0.6 V/µs) are substantially lower than those of the BA4560 (4 MHz, 4 V/µs). Substitution would lead to significant bandwidth limitations and waveform distortion when processing higher-frequency or fast-changing signals. 2) Input Offset Voltage: The LM358ST's 2 mV offset is four times greater than the BA4560's 500 µV. This would introduce larger static errors in DC or low-frequency amplification circuits, degrading measurement or control accuracy. 3) Package Footprint: Although both are in an 8-MSOP package, the LM358ST's body width (3.00 mm) is slightly larger than the BA4560's (2.80 mm), which may cause PCB layout incompatibility. Substitution may only be considered in applications with extremely low speed and precision requirements, and where PCB layout modifications are acceptable.
2. LM2904YST Substitution Conclusion Direct substitution is not recommended. The LM2904YST's characteristics are highly similar to those of the LM358ST, and the substitution feasibility conclusion is essentially the same. The key performance gap between it and the original BA4560RFVM-TR also lies in: 1) Speed Performance: Its GBWP (700 kHz) and slew rate (0.6 V/µs) are orders of magnitude lower than the BA4560's (4 MHz, 4 V/µs), making it unsuitable for any circuit requiring bandwidth or fast transient response. 2) Precision: The 2 mV input offset voltage is significantly higher than the BA4560's 500 µV, which would markedly degrade the system's DC accuracy. 3) Package: It shares the same physical compatibility issue regarding package body width (3.00 mm). Although the LM2904YST is an AEC-Q100 qualified automotive-grade component with reliability advantages, this does not compensate for its major shortcomings in key electrical parameters. It cannot serve as a substitute unless the application demands only extremely low signal frequency and precision.
