1. LM358AM Substitution Conclusion
Direct substitution is not recommended. The LM358AM is a general-purpose dual op-amp, and its core architecture differs significantly from the J-FET based LT1464: its input bias current (45 nA) is approximately 90,000 times higher than that of the LT1464 (0.5 pA), its input offset voltage (2 mV) is about three times greater, and it lacks a defined slew rate specification. In applications involving high-impedance signal sources, precision DC amplification, or low-noise requirements, the LM358AM may introduce significant error, increased noise, or insufficient dynamic response. It is only suitable for low-frequency, general-purpose circuits where input error is not critical.
2. TL032AID Substitution Conclusion
This device can serve as a viable substitute, but system compatibility must be evaluated. The TL032AID is also a J-FET input dual op-amp, with input bias current (2 pA) and offset voltage (570 µV) on the same order of magnitude as the LT1464. It offers a higher slew rate (5.1 V/µs) and slightly better bandwidth (1.1 MHz). Key differences include a higher supply current (434 µA vs. 145 µA), resulting in approximately three times the power dissipation, which trades off for improved transient response. Additionally, it provides stronger output current drive (40 mA). This substitute is suitable for applications requiring maintained high input impedance and low error while tolerating moderate increases in power consumption. However, in power-sensitive designs such as battery-powered systems, careful validation is advised.
