In applications requiring high input impedance or marginally higher frequency response, the LM124D may deliver better performance. Its specified differential output type is, in essence, a typical push-pull output, which remains compatible with the original part. It should be noted that its output drive capability (30mA) is slightly lower than the Original Part's (40mA), which could theoretically result in a reduced margin when driving heavy loads. However, for the vast majority of general-purpose amplification, filtering, and comparator circuits, the LM124D can be directly substituted and will function correctly.
2. LM2902QDRQ1 Substitution Conclusion
As an automotive-grade (AEC-Q100) component, the LM2902QDRQ1 is a functionally viable substitute for the LM224DR2G, offering a higher reliability rating. The key differentiators are its wider industrial/automotive operating temperature range (typically -40°C to +125°C) and its qualification status, which ensure greater stability and reliability in harsh environments. Electrically, its gain-bandwidth product (1.2MHz) and slew rate (0.5V/µs) are equal to or better than the Original Part, and its output drive capability (60mA) is significantly stronger. However, its maximum supply voltage rating (26V) is lower than the Original Part's (32V). If the original circuit operates at or above 26V, this substitution is not feasible. For operation below 26V, the substitution would provide stronger output drive and improved stability. Its slightly higher input offset voltage (3mV) should be evaluated for DC applications with extremely high precision requirements.
