Notably, the CDBR variant offers an increased data rate of 250kbps, compared to the original’s 120kbps. While maintaining pin-for-pin and functional compatibility, it enables higher communication speeds without requiring changes to the external circuitry. This substitution may also improve the system’s performance margin.
2. MAX3243IPWR Substitution Conclusion
The MAX3243IPWR is functionally compatible as a replacement for the original device, but two key differences must be considered. First, the package is a 28-TSSOP with a width of 4.40mm, which is narrower than the original 28-SSOP (5.30mm). This requires redesigning the PCB pad layout to accommodate the smaller footprint. Second, the receiver hysteresis is 500mV, compared to 300mV in the original. This improves noise immunity but may affect the signal detection threshold under extreme low‑amplitude signal conditions. If PCB space and layout can be modified and the system operates in a noisy environment, this part can serve as an upgraded alternative.
