2. LM224ADRE4 Substitution Conclusion
Direct substitution is not recommended. Although the package (14-SOIC) and channel count match, and the supply voltage ranges partially overlap (LM224 supports 3–30 V, LT1465 requires 10–30 V), the BJT input structure results in an input bias current (15 nA) four orders of magnitude higher than that of the LT1465 (0.5 pA). The input offset voltage (2 mV) is approximately three times greater than the LT1465’s 600 µV, and the quiescent current is nearly ten times higher. In applications involving high-impedance signal sources, precision measurement, or low-power operation, the LM224ADRE4 may introduce significant error or fail to meet performance requirements. It is suitable only for general-purpose amplification circuits where input error and power consumption are not critical.
